Certification of documents and signatures at the office from September 1, 2026

From September 1, 2026, the new Act No. 78/2026 Coll. on the Certification of Documents and Signatures will apply, which brings changes to verification at our municipal office as well.

CERTIFICATION OF SIGNATURES AND DOCUMENTS from 1.9.2026

FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 2026, NEW RULES FOR CERTIFICATION OF SIGNATURES AND DOCUMENTS WILL APPLY

Dear citizens,
We would like to inform you that the new Act No. 78/2026 Coll. on the Certification of Documents and Signatures has come into force. It has significantly tightened the rules and determined what the municipal office CAN and CANNOT verify for you.

WHAT CAN WE NO LONGER CERTIFY AT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE? (You must visit a NOTARY):
CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS with protective features (watermark, hologram, dry seal, embossed stamp). Copies of high school diplomas or university diplomas will now only be verified by a NOTARY.
DOCUMENTS FOR ABROAD – if the document is sent to an authority abroad, we will not verify your signature at our office. You must go to a NOTARY (the only exception is confirmation of residence for the Czech Republic).
FOREIGN LANGUAGE DOCUMENTS – we do not verify signatures on documents in a foreign language (the exception is the Czech language).
BLANK FORMS AND PAPERS – contracts and forms must be completely filled out before the signature can be verified.
STAMPS IN PLACE OF SIGNATURE – pre-printed or scanned signatures cannot be certified.

BEWARE OF IDENTITY DOCUMENTS!
When certifying, Slovak citizens can ONLY present:
• Valid ID card
• A valid passport
Military IDs or other documents are no longer recognized by the law!

OUR ADVICE:
Check your documents and credentials before arriving at the office. This will prevent unnecessary complications and long waits.
Thank you for your understanding!
