Chalmová Manor House reopens to the public after years

August 15, 2026 will go down in the history of the people of Bystričice as the day when the gates of the Chalmová Castle reopened to the general public after many years. The historical monument, which is an integral part of the local part of Chalmová and the cultural heritage of the entire region, began to write a new chapter in its history.
The municipality of Bystričany prepared the grand opening of the manor house as an event that combined history, culture, traditions, gastronomy and entertainment. Visitors had the opportunity to look into the manor house and learn about its history and the life of the nobility in the past through commented tours. The program was enriched by historical photographs, exhibitions, demonstrations of hunting, falconry, archery, horse riding, traditional crafts and period gastronomy with tasting of historical dishes.

At the beginning of the event, PhDr. Katarína Nádaská, PhD., an award-winning ethnologist and historian, gave a lecture on interesting facts from the life of the aristocracy.

A special guest at the opening ceremony was Mrs. Alena Detrich, a descendant of the Detrich family, whose name is significantly connected with the history of Chalmová and its manor house. Visitors had a unique opportunity to meet a direct descendant of the family and listen to the discussion "In the footsteps of the Detrich family in Chalmová". Through her story, they could be transported into the past and learn about the story of the Detrich family, its life and work in Chalmová. Mrs. Alena Detrich's visit was a rare moment that added not only a historical but also a personal dimension to the festive day.

The afternoon and evening also belonged to the cultural program, which also included a cheerful program dedicated to children. Children's joy was provided mainly by a medieval jester, an acrobat, and a juggler. Another program included musical performances, a concert by the magnificent popular trio LA GIOIA, an emotional performance by singer Radka Križanová and pianist Zdenko Huszárik. A spectacular laser show followed, and the day culminated with Annabál.

The municipality of Bystričany thanks everyone who participated in the preparation and implementation of the opening ceremony, as well as all visitors who helped create the atmosphere of this special day with their participation.

A new chapter in a historical monument

The manor house in Chalmová is a significant historical building in Horná Nitra. Originally a Renaissance manor house, it was built in the first half of the 17th century and later underwent reconstruction and classicist decoration. In the second third of the 19th century, it was expanded and a historical park with valuable trees, an entrance alley and a pond was created near the manor house. The manor house, together with the park, is registered as a national cultural monument.
An important milestone for its future was the acquisition of the manor house by the municipality of Bystričany. The municipality's goal is to gradually create conditions for the meaningful use of this important cultural monument and its grounds with a park.
The grand opening was not just a one-time cultural event. It represents a significant step in the municipality's efforts to preserve and further develop one of the valuable historical landmarks of Bystričany.
The manor house and its park have the potential to become a place that will connect the residents of the village, visitors to the region, history, culture and tourism. Reopening the grounds to the public also creates space for the story of the manor house to be brought closer to future generations.
August 15, 2026 brought not only the ceremonial opening of the historical monument, but above all the symbolic beginning of its new stage - a stage in which the Chalmová Manor House is once again to be among the vibrant places of our municipality and region.
