The municipality of Bystričany submitted an Application for the provision of a non-refundable financial contribution to the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic on 28 December 2005. The decision of the Minister of the Environment approving the application was delivered to the municipality on 15 May 2006.

The contractor for the construction works was STS, sro, Construction and Commercial Company, Záhradnícka č. 3, 971 01 Prievidza, based on the results of a public tender. Technological equipment (e.g.: universal tool carrier, Ekosack 50 press, biological waste shredder) was purchased from several suppliers based on the results of the public tender.

The main objective of the project was to improve the quality of separated waste collection in the municipality. We wanted to reduce the amount of municipal waste and minimize the negative impact of waste. At the same time, we set ourselves the goal of ensuring maximum recovery in the form of secondary raw materials and the use of biological waste for organic fertilizers. The most important step on this path is the construction of a composting facility in the municipality of Bystričany, the improvement of the established waste management program and the subsequent material and energy recovery of waste for the benefit of the municipality.
